The Dos and Don'ts of Maintaining Your Blonde Hair Colour

Blonde hair is stunning! BUT it also requires extra care and attention to maintain its colour and vibrancy. If you're a blonde, you know that keeping your hair color looking fresh can be a challenge. But with the right care and attention, you can keep your blonde hair looking beautiful for longer. Here are some dos and don'ts of maintaining your blonde hair color:

DO use a take home toner (THT). Purple THT can help to neutralize any brassy or yellow tones that can make blonde hair look dull. Depending on the shade of blonde you are, use a purple THT once a week or as needed to keep your blonde hair looking bright and vibrant. Our most fave toner is our MILKSHAKE Toner - Colour Powder

DON'T use hot tools too often. Heat styling tools like curling irons, straighteners, and blow dryers can damage your hair and cause your blonde hair color to fade faster. Try to limit your use of these tools and use a heat protectant spray when you do use them.

DO use a moisture conditioner. Blonde hair can be more prone to dryness and damage, so it's important to keep your hair moisturized. A Moisture conditioner can help to nourish and protect your hair, which can keep your blonde hair color looking bright and healthy.

DON'T wash your hair too often. Frequent washing can cause your blonde hair color to fade faster, so try to limit washing your hair to 2-3 times a week. If your hair feels greasy in between washes, use a dry shampoo to refresh your hair without stripping its color.

DO protect your hair from the sun. UV rays can cause your blonde hair color to fade and become dull, so it's important to protect your hair when you're out in the sun. Wear a hat to shield your hair from the sun's harmful rays.

DON'T swim in chlorinated water. Chlorine can cause your blonde hair color to fade and even turn green. If you're going swimming, wear a swim cap or wet your hair with fresh water before getting in the pool to reduce the amount of chlorine your hair absorbs.

DO have an appointment for a toner re fresh at the salon, in-between colour appointments. That way you don't run the risk of it turning into a dull lifeless blonde.

DON'T go longer than 6-8 weeks for your colour appointments, even if it's just a touch up. Anything from 8-12 weeks falls in the category of being a colour correction. This ends up costing you more of your time and more money.

By following these dos and don'ts of maintaining your blonde hair color, you can help to keep your hair looking vibrant and beautiful for longer. Remember to be gentle with your hair and use products that are specifically designed for blonde hair. With the right care, your blonde hair color can last for weeks or even months, so you can enjoy your stunning blonde locks for longer.
